Solliden Palace, Öland: Entry Ticket & Royal Gardens

2 hours

Easy

Walk the beautiful gardens of the Swedish Royal Family's actual summer home on Öland. Brief security screening on arrival.

Nestled on the western coast of Öland, Solliden Palace has been the private summer home of the Swedish Royal Family since 1906. Inspired by Italian Renaissance gardens and English park landscapes, Solliden is a place where royal history, architecture, flowers, and nature come together in a uniquely Swedish setting.

After a quick security screening*, your ticket gives access to the celebrated palace gardens, where carefully designed garden rooms, sculptures, fountains, and seasonal flower displays create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Sweden.
Enjoy the geometrical planned renaissance Italian Garden or stroll in the beautiful English Park with its wide lawns. From the Italian Garden a romantic waterfall will lead you the way into the Dutch Garden, a gift from Queen Wilhelmina and laid by Dutch gardeners in 1926.

Among the park attractions there are also a number of beautiful rockeries with plants indigenous to Öland.

In the Pavilion, which was built in 1992, there is a new exhibition with a royal theme every summer and in the Pavilion gift shop (Slottsboden) there are presents and gifts of a unique assortment inspired by the royal collections.

A visit to Solliden is about more than gardens. It is a chance to experience a living royal estate that continues to serve as the summer residence of Sweden's King and Queen.

*) All visitors to Solliden Palace pass through a brief security screening at the entrance, similar to airport security. This is standard procedure for an active Royal residence, and it is the reason your visit here is genuinely different from any other heritage attraction in Sweden.

What this means for you:

  • The screening takes approximately 2 minutes
  • You will be asked to empty your pockets and leave bags at the screening point
  • Large bags and backpacks are not recommended
  • Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before you want to start exploring

This is not an inconvenience. It is what makes Solliden the real thing.
